To Move a Child Feature Type

Moving a child feature type from one compound feature type to another feature type will remove the feature type from its current parent and add it to the new feature type. The destination feature type will become a parent feature type (if it is not already one). The original parent feature type will become an independent feature type and displayed at the top level of the tree if this action leaves it with no remaining child feature types. The Move command for this task is accessed from a shortcut menu during the drag-and-drop operation.

  1. In the Feature Type Tree, expand the compound feature type containing the child feature type that you want to move.
  2. Right-click the child feature type, drag it to the new feature type, and drop it.
  3. From the shortcut menu, choose Move.
